Laugh: A good laugh can relax muscles, release endorphins, and reduce stress.  And, if you make a habit of finding something to laugh about every day, you can improve alertness, creativity and memory – and you’re more likely to live a longer life.

Breathe Deeply: Deep breathing is one of the best ways to lower stress in the body – and you don’t need to be a master of meditation to do it.  By simply taking a few minutes to slow down your breath, you’re able to relax your mind and body.  Breathe in through your nose for a count of 3, pause briefly, and exhale through your mouth for a count of 3 or longer.

Take the Stairs: Adding a little movement to your day can counteract the side effects of sitting too much, and burn enough calories to negate the average adult’s annual one to two pound weight gain.  Taking the stairs is the easiest way to get a mini work out between meetings.  Those who regularly climb the stairs increased their stamina, showed signs of lower blood pressure and cut almost 2% of their waist circumferences, according to a study in Men’s Health.

Pack a Lunch: By packing your own lunch, you gain control over things like portion size, sodium, and fat, which can quickly lead to weigh gain.  By wrapping up last night’s leftovers and taking them to work, you’re ensuring that you won’t be tempted by the local fast food restaurant.  Plus, you’ll likely save a bit of money, too.
